Oxbow Orchards located in Grafton, ND has been hard at work preparing mums. In 2018 they started with growing 600 mums, this year they grew 7,500 mums. The orchard starts planting mums June first, and mum season is from late August to early October. When asked why they chose Dakota Peat Trevon Unruh, owner of Oxbow Orchards said,

“We started growing in traditional sphagnum peat. In 2020 supply was tight and I decided to try Dakota peat on half of my crop.  Loved the results and used it on 100% of the crop this year. I love the water retention and the weight lends stability to the flower pot.”

You can purchase a mum directly from the farm 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM Monday through Saturday in season. They are also sold at all Hornbachers, most Hugos, and some Leevers grocery stores.
